Armed commando sabotages PDVSA oil facilities in Venezuela

Petroleos de Venezuela, SA (PDVSA) reports that an armed group stormed the premises of the El Tejero Operational Center, located at the Punta de Mata Division of the Eastern Executive Production Division in Monagas state, and submitted to the production operators, proceeding to force doors and electric holes with welding equipment for high voltage cables.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, March 27, when the commando group proceeded to cut and remove the power cables from the oil pumping system of the station, causing the overflow of oil storage tanks, thus was proceeded to the closure of 80,000 barrels of oil and 1.2 billion cubic feet of gas.

The impact of this act of sabotage to the oil industry was countered thanks to the activation of the contingency plan and the action of Patriot workers, who managed to restore in a record time the pumping system, this allowed to standardize operations of production of gas and oil in the East of the country.

Had he not acted in time, this area being the most important source of gas in the country, there could have happened a serious impact on gas-fired power generation.

Government authorities are investigating this action that we do not hesitate to qualify as terrorism against our industry, to find those responsible for this sabotage against oil installations in the country, also the necessary measures will be taken to ensure that such incidents will not happen again.

In this sense, the oil workers affirm their commitment to the Oil Industry and the Venezuelan people, making a call to repudiate any act of sabotage affecting the economy of the country.
