The project of an interoceanic route across Nicaragua advances today on the base of the established schedule, made sure the member of the Commission of the Big Channel, Telémaco Talavera.
In accordance with the spokesman of this entity, soon they will conclude the studies of social and environmental impact on the part of the firm Environmental Resources Management (ERM) and once completed they will be delivered to the Chinese company HKND Group, concessionaire of the work.
The route, according to official information, will be 278 kilometers long, it will pass the river Brito, in the region of the Pacific Ocean, cross the Nicaragua Lake and cover the outskirts of the Tule River, up to the mouth of Punta Gorda, in the area of the Caribbean.
The total cost is valued for 50 billion dollars and it is expected that its building takes five years.
In addition to the channel, they will work in the creation of an airport, several highways, an area of free trade, tourist complexes and two ports, one Pacific Ocean side and the other in the Atlantic Ocean side.
Official reports emphasize that the work will assume five per cent of the transport of the total of the world commerce, it will duplicate the Gross Internal Product of this Central American nation and will generate more than 250,000 jobs.
