Ryan Maron Named Fielding Coach of West Indies

West Indies have appointed South Africa born former opening batsman Ryan Maron as their new fielding coach.

The 42-year-old has made 18 first-class appearances with Western Province team in which he scored 780 runs at an average of 24.37. However, it is his experience has fielding coach with South Africa based team Dolphins and most recently the Afghanistan team during the One-Day International series in the Caribbean that went in his favour.

Maron, who is currently with the team in the tour of England, has replaced Andre Coley, who now has occupied the position of head coach of Windward Islands cricket team that competes in inter-regional cricket competitions in the Caribbean.

“This is a massive privilege to be involved in West Indies cricket and I’m delighted to join the Windies coaching staff,” he said.

“I have followed West Indies cricket over the years as a kid and then as a player and a coach and I’m just happy to be offered this opportunity to make a contribution as a coach.

“The game in the West Indies has a great history and here in this group we have a young bunch of cricketers who will perform well. I’m also looking forward to working with the ODI and T20 sides as we look to climb back up the ladder in world cricket.”

West Indies are scheduled to play three Tests, solitary Twenty20 International and five ODIs during their tour of England between 17th August and 29th September.
