The National Electoral Council (CNE) of Venezuela will install today the international accompaniment program for the regional elections on October 15 in 23 states of the country, according to Tania D’Amelio, CNE rector.
The international accompaniment program is provided in the General Regulation of the Organic Law on Electoral Processes, which its article 481 states that this group must be duly registered by the CNE, in order to carry out the accompanying activities.
Thus program also include the participation of national observers, a task to be carried out by the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), the Education Assembly and the Nation Project.
On Tuesday, the broadcasting equipment was completed installed and according to D’Amelio ‘there are only a few days left before the installation of polling stations. On Friday, we´ll took the polling stations and, once we do this, we already have to do virtually nothing by day 15,’ she said.
On the other hand, the international accompaniment will be in charge of members of the Council of Electoral Experts of Latin America (CEELA) and over 50 experts and authorities in this matter from different nations, as informed by the National Electoral Council (CNE) President, Tibisay Lucena.
She said the group of experts is made up of parliamentarians and representatives of electoral bodies and institutions from other States.
Lucena, and the People’s Minister for Defense, Vladimir Padrino Lopez, met yesterday in order to finalize details that allow proper voting progress.
This election includes the Republic Plan, through which 143,000 officials of the security forces, including the Bolivarian National Police, Scientific, Penal, and Criminal Investigations Corp (CICPC), firefighters and Civil Protection, will be responsible for safeguarding the security and sovereignty of suffrage.
The regional elections in Venezuela are already drawing near, and according to sources, the left-wing forces are aiming at obtaining a majority of the 23 seats.
