U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, thinks President Trump should consider resigning because of the allegations of sexual misconduct made against him during his campaign.
The senator was referencing a tape from “Access Hollywood” made public during the 2016 election on which the president was heard talking about grabbing women without their consent.
Noting that more than a dozen women have come forward to accuse Trump of sexual misconduct — and noting Trump’s own boasting of committing sexual assault on women in the infamous “Access Hollywood” video — Sanders said that Trump’s resignation is certainly something that should be on the table.
“We have a president of the United States who acknowledged on a time widely seen all over this country that he assaulted women, so I would hope that maybe the POTUS might pay attention to what’s going on and also think about resigning,” Sanders told CBS News on Thursday.
Sanders also said that the conversation about sexual harassment needs to extend beyond disgraced Hollywood moguls and politicians — and move into the less glamorous world of corporate America.
“What I worry about right now, as we speak, in restaurants and in offices all over this country where you have bosses who are not famous, there is harassment of women and women are being intimidated,” he said. “We need a cultural revolution in this country.”
