Venezuela Denounces Threats from the US and Canada against the National Peace

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela denounced on Thursday before the international community a new threat against its peace and sovereignty on the part of the two main military powers of the hemisphere, the United States and Canada.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that on December 19 the foreign ministers of both countries met in Ottawa in order, among other things, to talk about Venezuela.

The meeting ended with the promise to take “actions” against our country individually, together or with the cooperation of a group of governments subordinated to the US administration grouped in the so-called Lima Group.

In that sense, the Bolivarian Government denounced that “this new threat is aimed at undermining the process of dialogue that takes place in the Dominican Republic, where the Bolivarian Government and the opposition have advanced in important aspects to guarantee the political and economic stability of the country, despite the strong pressures that are exerted from abroad against its continuity and success, and in which these countries play a leading role.”

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela denounces to the international community a new threat against its peace and sovereignty by the two main military powers of the hemisphere, the United States and Canada.

On December 19, the foreign ministers of both countries met in Ottawa in order, among other things, to talk about Venezuela, promising, according to Minister Freeland, to take “actions” against our country individually, together or with the cooperation of a group of governments subordinated to the United States grouped in the so-called Lima Group.

This new threat is aimed at undermining the process of dialogue that takes place in the Dominican Republic, where the Bolivarian Government and the opposition have advanced in important aspects to guarantee the country’s political and economic stability, despite the strong pressures from abroad they are exercised against their continuity and success, and in which these countries play a leading role.

We reject these threats and any kind of action that these governments direct to continue or expand the illegal economic blockade and destabilize the peace and tranquility of the Venezuelan people, as well as the measures of pressure applied on Latin American republic sisters to attack the government of President Nicolás Maduro.

It draws attention the complicit and rogue silence of these governments to the political tension and violence promoted by the State in recent weeks in several countries in the region where electoral fraud or theft of pensions by governments subordinated to the US have been made invisible by the simple reason that it is not Venezuela.

Venezuela reiterates that it is a free and sovereign country, that will resolve the internal political differences through peace and democracy and will not tolerate any type of foreign intervention.
