Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza denounced Friday the economic harassment of his country and how over three billion dollars remain blocked in international banks.

During a meeting with international accompanist in the municipal elections on Sunday at the Yellow House, installation of the local Foreign Ministry, the chief of diplomacy said that these illegal actions are the product of the sanctions imposed by Washington and the European Union against Venezuela.

‘At the moment we must have over three billion dollars blocked in the international financial system,’ the minister reiterated.

He also regretted that there are still governments that are subordinated to the designs of the United States and Europe.

In another part of his statements, he pointed out that the municipal elections are crucial because they allow, once the new mayors be elected, to have a greater closeness with the people to give him more power.

‘The mayors’ offices, he pointed out, are the government bodies closest to the people, and if we want to give power to the people, this choice is fundamental.’

He recalled that next year there will be elections, so he pondered the importance of having again foreign companions.

‘Before those elections we will continue facing the international siege. There will be those who will look for shortcuts again, ‘the foreign minister warned.

He referred that in Venezuela there is a vigorous democracy and few countries in the world can give lessons in that regard, however, he pinpointed, ‘we are perceptible.’ He added that the election of the National Constituent Assembly was a democratic solution to a serious problem that was trying to lead Venezuela to a people-to-people war.

He indicated that the almost 23 elections carried out so far are the wise ones that feed the Revolution.

He noted that the Table for Democratic Unity refused to participate for fear of another political defeat. There are the same conditions of 2015, when they devastated, that is to say, when they win conditions are good, but when they see their defeat conditions are bad, he added.

Arreaza urged the companions to demonstrate and denounce if there is any violation in the elective process.

In 2018, he stressed, there will be presidential elections and we want the opposition to participate with their vote, not with violence in the streets.
